Memories & Thoughts from Today :)
Navigator’s Notes
We started today by (virtually) exploring Washington, D.C. We saw a lot of amazing places like the National Mall, the White House, the U.S. Capitol Building, and the many museums of the Smithsonian Institute. We ended our (virtual) day by traveling to Assateague Island and seeing the wild horses.
Our in-person crew enjoyed a (Zoom) visit with Dr. Maya Soetoro-Ng. Aunty Maya is from the Matsunaga Peace Institute. She led us through several fun exercises that helped us to reflect on our own personal gifts, the things that mattered most to us, what helps us to move from a negative to a positive space, and how we can use our gifts to build peace in our world. It was great getting to meet Aunty Maya. Her visit inspired us to make a difference and filled us with hope. It also prompted our morning p4c question: What does it mean to be a "Peace Builder"?
In the afternoon we visited Uncle Norman at the UH FETCH farm. We worked together to plant a hydroponics bed. We planted lettuce and cilantro. Then we did a second harvest of our micro-greens and had an interesting discussion about what it means to be "well." It was definitely a memorable day on the Virtual Road Trip!
