The Geology of La Brea Tar Pits
We’ve excavated over 3.5 million fossils from the La Brea Tar Pits, and we’re still digging! Why do we find SO many fossils here? Gallery Interpreter, Michelle Vanegas explains the set of conditions that came together to create this incredibly rich deposit of fossils.

Memories & Thoughts from Today :)
Navigator’s Notes
We stared our morning by taking a (virtual) drive to Tijuana, Mexico for breakfast. Now we've (virtually) visited 9 countries this summer. Can you name them! After our brief trip we (virtually) drove back up to Los Angeles and spent a second day visiting with our friends Aunty Noel, Ms. Jessica, and Ms. Julie from the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles Country. Today we continued to take a deep dive into dinosaurs. We got to watch a series of videos created by Mr. Beau. Mr. Beau is the Senior Paleontological Preparator for the Dinosaur Institute and his videos showed us all of the steps that he and his team take to excavate, transport, prepare, and display dinosaur fossils. It was really interesting to see the whole process from beginning to end.
After our visit to the Museum we had a p4c question about a discussion that we've been wondering about for awhile: "Who am I?" Then we hit the (virtual) road and revisited a favorite site from past summers, La Brea Tar Pits and Museum. Then it was time for our final drive! We drove to the harbor and caught the Zoom Zoom Ship for a weekend voyage back to Honolulu. While en route on the Zoom Zoom Ship we ended our day in Art Class with Aunty Janell. We started working on a two week project. We'll be creating our own flip books! It has been a great 6-week journey around the world. We've learned a lot, become friends, and had so much fun. But it'll be good to get back home.
The Last Drive!
Who am I? One answer to today's p4c wondering is "This is Me."
