Memories & Thoughts from Today :)
Navigator’s Notes
It is hard to believe that this was the final full day of our journey together. It has been an amazing adventure and summer. We started today with our (virtual) travels. We flew in our Zoom Zoom Jet from Maui to Oahu. Once we got there, we went back to visit our friend Aunty Hye Jung. Today Aunty Hye Jung told us stories about her voyage on Hikianalia. Hikianalia is the voyaging canoe that accompanies Hōkūle‘a. Aunty Hye Jung shared some of the challenges that they faced and the lessons that she learned from them. In life, she said, you have to trust that you're chosen for a reason and to bring your full attention and full self to the moment. Aunty Hye Jung's wonderful sharing inspired our p4c question: Is it bad to fear the unknown? Our p4c discussion today was also a p4c demonstration. Educators from Hawai‘i, the continental U.S., and Japan watched us do p4c and then asked us questions about our p4c practice.
In our afternoon session we had so much fun playing the Blooket and Kahoot VRT 2022 trivia challenges that two of our crew members made for us. Then we had our final Tao of Pooh p4c Book Club. We talked about how, in Taoism, nothing is something and something is nothing. Finally, we had our last art class with Aunty Janell. We finished our flip books and learned how to draw a tessellation. It was a nice, peaceful conclusion to our journey and the end of the day we didn't want to end. Hard to believe that VRT 2022 is almost over.
