Service, Social Justice, Sustainability

BEGINNING IN FALL 2020, specific hall locations for these TLCs will no longer be set aside. Instead, some of the principles and goals of these TLCs will be incorporated into the programming model and expectations across campus.

Mission

The mission of the 3 S’s, Service, Social Justice, and Sustainability Themed Living Communities, is to establish a community of folks committed to investing time and energy towards educating themselves and others on the important issues attached to the topic of their respective building. These communities are focused on understanding ways to give back to Guilford and beyond through service; living in ecologically, socially, and economically healthy environments; and a commitment to being in a space that promotes a socially just and conscientious world.

Learning Objectives

  1. Students will engage with others who share similar interests around the topics of service, sustainability, or social justice.
  2. Students will learn about navigating the world of service, sustainability or social justice as it relates to different identities (race/ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, etc.) and the intersections of them all.
  3. Students will explore the worlds of service, sustainability, and social justice as it relates to Guilford College, surrounding areas, and the US.
