*3- and 12-week Sessions and Housing:
The Spring Terms are split into a 12- or 14- week session and a 3-week session (see Academic Calendars) during which students will typically be enrolled in multiple classes (totaling 8 or more credits) during the 12-/14-week session and one 4-credit class during the 3-week session. Students who are not enrolled in a Spring 3-week session class are NOT permitted to reside on-campus during that period of time. If you are not enrolled in the 3-week session in the Spring, you will be required to vacate the residence halls by 3pm on the day following the end of the 12-/14-week session; see specific schedules above.**Fall, Thanksgiving, and Spring Breaks:
Guilford College residence halls officially close during these week-long breaks. Students who need to remain on-campus during these breaks may do so with no additional cost but are required to register to stay, instructions are shared prior to each break. Usual services (including dining) are limited or not available during these breaks. See Guilford Dining for hours.***Winter Break and End of Spring Term:
Students are NOT permitted to remain in the halls during Winter Break or after their respective closing deadlines at the end of the Spring Term. All students must vacate by their respective deadline. See also "Storage and Occupancy" below. Students found in the residence halls after their deadline to vacate will incur a fine of $50 per hour or part thereof that they or their belongings remain in the halls past their respective deadline and may face student conduct charges and immediate removal from campus. (International students and students required to be on-campus by the College are the only possible exceptions and must seek prior approval from Residential Education & Housing. Approval is not guaranteed.)****Session Break:
The residence halls will remain open and meal plans will remain active during the "Session Break" between the 12- or 14-week spring session and the 3-week session.EARLY ARRIVALS AND LATE DEPARTURES:
Students are NOT permitted to move into campus housing prior to their respective check-in times or stay late as outlined in the schedules and expectations above. Some exceptions may apply at the discretion of Residential Education & Housing for extreme, extenuating circumstances. Individual students or student groups will be notified. Those who are granted explicit permission from Residential Education & Housing to arrive early or depart late may not host any guests in the residence halls and may not allow others to access the halls during those periods of time. Students found in violation of these expectations and policies may be removed from housing immediately, face student conduct charges, and jeopardize the group's future access to the halls.
