Study Away and Study Abroad

"Study Away"

with regards to housing refers to students who are enrolled in one of the 3-week study away experiences at the end of the Spring Term or end of the Spring Term.  These students will "book" an on-campus room for the full term, despite being away from campus for a period of time.  More info below...

If you are studying away for a 3-week week course in the Spring Term...

You should follow all the same housing processes pertaining to anyone enrolled on-campus for that respective term and you will have your room "booked" for the full term.  Find your respective move-in and move-out dates here, they would be the same as anyone else on-campus for the semester.  Think of the study away experience as an extended field trip within the semester.

Housing and meal plan fees that are charged for on-campus housing are used to offset the costs of your study away experience. Therefore, housing and meal plan charges are not adjusted for those who study away. For example, while you may not have access to your meal plan and on-campus dining while you are away, the meal plan fees help offset the costs of your meals during your study away experience.

"Study Abroad"

with regards to housing refers to students enrolled in abroad experiences for the entire Fall or Spring term.  These students will not receive an on-campus housing assignment at all for the term during which they are studying abroad.  More info below...

If you are studying abroad for the FALL Term...

You will NOT follow the usual processes during the preceding Spring Term to secure housing for the Fall that you are studying abroad.  Instead, we will reach out to you during your semester abroad (usually in October) about selecting housing for the following Spring Term when you return to campus.  Unfortunately, we are unable to "hold" a space for you during the semester you are abroad.

If you are studying abroad for the SPRING Term...

You will need to complete the housing process for continuing students throughout the Spring Term as scheduled, just like students who are currently residing on-campus.  Deadlines are Eastern Time!

You may also choose to allow someone on-campus to select housing for you through requesting a proxy at least three business days prior to your allotted selection time through the Proxy Request Form
