Themed Living Community for SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, and SENIORS in ENGLISH HALL.
Mission
The mission of the Global Learning & Academic Leadership hall is to provide a supportive space for students who have demonstrated a commitment to achieving academic excellence and a desire to learn about the world beyond U.S. borders. Students are encouraged to bring what they are learning in the classroom, through their research projects, internships, and study abroad experiences into the residence hall to create a holistic academic/living experience that encourages students to become independent, critical-thinkers and global citizens.
This TLC is supported in collaboration with the Honors Program and the Office of Global and Off-Campus Initiatives.
Learning Objectives
Students will engage with one another, the area’s Assistant Community Director, and faculty members to discuss research project ideas, developments, and findings.
Students will have the opportunity to learn about the history and traditions of other cultures through RA programming.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in exploration and guided discussions on current events, hot topics, and global events through RA programming.
This TLC will occupy part or all of English Hall depending on the number of applications received.
While we hope all English Hall residents will be engaged in the incredible opportunities, events and initiatives offered through the Global Learning & Academic Leadership TLC there will be no requirements to participate.
HOW TO APPLY
On the Online Housing Registration, you may select English Hall as your first hall preference. However the placement process will be the same as all generalized processes.
Global Learning & Academic Leadership TLC will engage all residents placed in English Hall, regardless of whether they have expressed specific interest in this TLC. Therefore there is no pre-application process for this TLC.
While we hope all English residents will be engaged in the incredible opportunities, events and initiatives offered through the Global Learning & Academic Leadership TLC there will be no requirements to participate.
For this particular TLC, there is no priority housing awarded to those interested in the theme.
