Tweezers Pickup
Materials Needed:
tweezers
various tongs
small balls or pom poms, or unifix cubes
container
Directions:
hold the tweezers in one hand
hold the container in the other
hold the tweezers with your thumb, pointer, and middle fingers
pick up the objects and put them into the container
Goals:
separation of the two sides of the hand
hand muscle development
Modifications:
changing the tongs used can make the task more or less difficult
using a variety of objects to pick up can challenge a student
the smaller the objects/tweezers, the harder the activity
make sure the pinky and ring finger are curled up and stabilized in the palm
arms placed on table gives more stability, making the task easier
arms hanging in space gives less stability, making the task harder
