Pennies, Pennies, Pennies

Materials Needed:

• pennies

• timer

Directions:

• place 20 pennies in a line, face up

• see how long it takes you to turn all of the pennies over

• now place the pennies in an "S" shape on in the shape of a big "X"

• see how long it takes you to turn them all over this way

Goals:

• simple rotation

• in-hand manipulation skills

Modifications:

• have the students make a shape, number or letter with the pennies

• they can do math problems

• arms placed on table gives more stability, making the task easier

• arms hanging in space gives less stability, making the task harder
