Fingerprint Animals

Materials Needed:

  • paper

  • transparent tape

  • pencils

  • thin dry erase markers

Directions:

  • color a small area of paper (2" squares) with a pencil

  • cover the entire area completely

  • rub your fingertip on the dark pencil spot

  • press your fingertip onto the sticky side of the tape, leaving a print

  • put the tape on a clean piece of paper

  • with a colored marker, draw eyes, ears, legs, and any other animal body parts

Goal:

  • finger isolation

  • tripod grasp

  • open web space

Modifications:

  • encourage the students to use each finger at least once

  • proper pencil/marker grasp

  • adapted grip can be used for proper grasp
