Pick-Up Sticks

Materials Needed:

• pick-up sticks

• toothpicks

Directions:

• play a regular game of pick -up sticks

• use only your thumb, pointer, and middle fingers to pick them up

• try this with toothpicks too

Goal:

• separation of the two sides of the hand

• pincer grasp

• opposition

• open web space

Modifications:

• mix toothpicks and pick-up sticks for challenge

• arms placed on table gives more stability, making the task easier

• arms hanging in space gives less stability, making the task harder
