Stringing Beads

Materials Needed:

  • small beads

  • flat vinyl lace

  • scissors

Directions:

  • cut a piece of string about 12" long

  • using the non-dominant hand, hold the bead with thumb and pointer

  • with the dominant hand, push the lace through the bead

  • slide the fingers back along the l ace as you push the bead through

  • then pick up the beginning of the string with your dominant hand again, and bead another one on

  • see how many beads you can fit on the string

Goals:

  • shift/in-hand manipulation

Modifications:

  • make sure the pinky and ring finger are curled up and stabilized in the palm

  • arms placed on table gives more stability, making the task easier

  • arms hanging in space gives less stability, making the task harder
