Paper Chains

Materials Needed:

  • paper

  • glue or glue stick

  • scissors

Directions:

  • cut strips of paper, 1/2" x 3"

  • glue both ends of the first strip together to make a circle

  • loop the second strip through the first and then glue those ends together

  • keep going until you have a chain of 20 circles

Goal:

  • hand muscle development

  • separation of the two sides of the hand (cutting)

  • shift/in-hand manipulation skills (moving paper when cutting it)

Modifications:

  • arms placed on table gives more stability, making the task easier

  • arms hanging in space gives less stability, making the task harder
