Q-tip Flips

Materials Needed:

• Q-tip

• tempera paint (two colors in small cups)

• paper

Directions:

• hold the q-tip in the middle with a three finger grasp

• dip the q-tip in one of the paint colors

• using only the thumb, pointer, and middle finger, flip the q-tip over and dip it in another color paint

• paint a picture with colored dots, alternating between the two colors

Modifications:

• be sure student is flipping with his fingers and not with the wrist

• keep checking to be sure the student is using a three finger grasp

• be sure pinky and ring fingers are curled up in the hand for stability
