I volunteered to help with the ACE Behavior Change Workshop we hosted on 11/9/19. I helped advertise, set up, direct participants, and greet the presenter. We asked participants to park in the S4 lot and head south, but a few of the participants were confused by the campus directions we provided. To prevent confusion at future events, I recommended directing participants to park at the west end of the S4 lot, near the football stadium, and head south towards the racquetball courts. I think using additional directional cues and adding landmarks will help clarify the directions and prevent the participants from getting lost.
Helping with this event also gave me the opportunity to observe Louise So in action and see how she successfully organizes, plans, and executes big events. I learned a lot from her. She constantly reflects on what can be done better and creates contact lists and to do lists to prepare her for future events.
