To learn strategies for boosting the brain power of my students, I attending the workshop lead by Stephanie Sawyer and Louise So on 8/16/18. I really enjoyed the simple movements and activities that can be done to help boost brain power. I also believe these activities would be helpful for increasing student engagement and breaking up the monotony of class. Having the opportunity to get up and move around in the middle of lesson will definitely benefit my students. I learned that in addition to improving mood and reducing anxiety, small bouts of movement can increase brain power by 20%. I plan on doing short "brain breaks" during class to promote movement, improve the learning environment, prevent boredom, and enhance brain power.
