I attended parts 1 and 3 of the Boost Your Accessibility series on October 1st and 15th. During these workshops I learned about the value of accessibility as well as how to create level headings, enhance closed captioning, notate pictures, and select fonts and colors to promote accessibility. These workshops were very informative and beneficial.
The most eye opening thing I learned was how screen readers work. I had no idea what level headings were for and what students using screen readers without level headings experience prior to this workshop. Understanding the value of level headings and how to use them will support my students using screen readers and enhance the content's organization for all of my students. Since the training, I have been using level headings on everything new that I create, and I have been systematically revising all of my content pages in Canvas and in the OER book to include functional level headings.
