On January 11th, I received an email from Tenisha Baca letting me know that I was nominated to be ambushed for their active learning series. I do not like being on film and being showcased is completely out of my comfort zone, but I agreed to meet with Tenisha. Tenisha was very warm and encouraging. She really liked the strategies I use to encourage active learning in my classroom, and she told me that they would help others, so I agreed to be ambushed for the series. Leading up to the filming on 2/15/19, I secretly hoped she would cancel because I was so nervous and uncomfortable. She didn't cancel. Her positive energy made the filming experience easier than I thought it would be. I am not completely satisfied with the footage, but I do not believe that I ever would be, so we stopped filming after our first take. I feel incredibly honored that I was nominated, but I am still nervous for the release of my video. I hope it is well received and I really hope that somebody finds it helpful. This opportunity really pushed me to step out of my comfort zone. I will continue to challenge myself and I hope to continuously learn new skills and develop professionally.
