Hello Mission Valley Elementary Families,

We had an amazing time at our Halloween parade this week! For the first time since before the pandemic we were able to invite families to join us on campus, watch the parade, and take photos. We appreciate our MVSA whose volunteerism and support provided the fun decorations, goodie bags for every student, and the pumpkin patch for primary grades. Thank you for helping create a memorable event for our community.

The MVSA's Busy Beaver Fundraiser was a huge success! We are extremely grateful for all our families and community members for your generosity. Please review the flyer in this newsletter with current updates from MVSA.

By now you should have received instructions from your student's teacher about scheduling Parent/Guardian-Teacher Conferences. Be sure to let the teacher know if you need interpretation in another language. Meetings will be held the week of November 13th-17th. Every day is early release to accommodate for conferences so please plan accordingly.

For any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Be sure to check out our new school website for the most current information regarding events, schedules, and contact information. You can also read the scrolling messages on our marquee near the valet entrance. GO BEAVERS!

Bike Mobile

We want to see more families riding their bikes to Mission Valley. That’s why we’ve invited the

BikeMobile to provide free tune ups & repairs for parents and children. The BikeMobile can fix flat tires, adjust brakes and gears, and even replace broken or worn out parts like chains, seats, and tires. The only thing it can’t do is replace missing wheels or gears. While the mechanics work on your bike they’ll explain how to keep it running smooth.

Bike or no bike, everyone is welcome to attend to learn about maintenance, safety, and more!

This is a first come, first serve event. Space is limited to 20 people. Bring your bikes to the front parking lot on Thursday, November 16th between 1:30-4:00pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

Attendance

As we approach the winter season please remember that daily attendance remains important. Please do not schedule trips outside of the window of days off (November 18 - November 26 and December 23 - January 7). Even a few missed days can lead to confusion when returning to class as well as lost social time with friends.

Also remember, Public Health guidelines call for students to stay home from school only when they have a fever, diarrhea, or are vomiting. For guidance as to when to keep your child home, please see Health Guidance for Going to School.

Noon Duty Supervisors Needed for 2023-2024

We have an immediate need for noon supervisors for breakfast service from 7:40-8:25am and lunch from 10:45am-12:30pm. If you are interested please contact the front office or Principal McClintock and we will walk you through the application process.

Volunteers Needed - ELAC

We are still in need of an English Language Advisory Commitee (ELAC) chairperson and DELAC parent representative. The ELAC Chairperson attends the remaining school meetings. The DELAC parent representative attends the remaining district meeting. Please reach out to Principal McClintock if you can fill either of these roles for Mission Valley. It is vital that Mission Valley has parent representation on these committees.

The remaining Mission Valley ELAC meeting dates are December 5, February 6, and April 9. Meetings are held from 3:00-4:00pm on Zoom.

The Fremont Unified DELAC meetings are held from 6:00-7:00pm via Zoom on December 4, February 12, and April 15.

Multilingual Learner Parent/Guardian Survey

We invite parents and guardians of multilingual learner students to participate in a survey Your responses will help us understand our multi language learner community’s needs and interests better. The survey was reopened until Thursday, November 30, 2023. We would like to know the best time of day most families can attend meetings and topics of interest. Thank you for taking the time to provide your response.

First Trimester Report Cards

Beginning Monday, November 20th families will gain access to first trimester student report cards in the Illuminate Parent Portal. Please consult the Illuminate Parent Portal slideshow should you need information about your portal account or directions below for downloading the report card.
