Fall 2023-2024 Continuing Student Enrollment
Reservation Form/Proof of Residency will be mailed home 1/27/2023
Please watch for a “FALL 2023-2024 Reservation/Registration Form” which Fremont Unified School District will mail home on 1/27/2023 for each student currently enrolled in K – 6th grade. We recommend submitting it as soon as you receive it so as not to miss the Februray 24th deadline.
The form will not be handed out to parents and serves 2 purposes: it reserves a spot for your child next year at Mission Valley and also fulfills the District’s mandated annual residency verification via USPS
Please do NOT mistake the form for junk mail and toss it out!
For students who will be moving on to middle school next year, Mission Valley will collect the form and communicate with Hopkins to confirm a space will be reserved for your child at Hopkins for next year..
The form must be returned to the school your student is currently attending; if you have a student overloaded to another elementary school, please return it there
By submitting the required form and Residency Proofs by the due date of February 24th, your child will be reserved a space for next year. Parents are encouraged to bring the forms to the office in person but may also send them via their child. Please note, if you are missing the proper residency proofs your paperwork will be sent back via your student. The Mission Valley School Office will be open to accept your forms during the days and times listed below:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
CLOSED: 11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. (student lunch periods)
Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
CLOSED: 11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. (student lunch periods)

Have you moved?
Please complete and email the Change of Address Form along with 2 residency proofs of your new address to our School Secretary, Jennifer Fereira, jfereira@fusdk12.net for processing.
If you are moving across town or changing apartment numbers, FUSD Board Policy states the family must inform the school within 5 days of your moving date or of any change in circumstance which would affect their student’s residency (AR 5111.1).
Please be sure to reach out to our office if you have moved recently so that the Continuing Student Reservation Form/Proof of Residency reaches you this month. We are committed to working with you on the address change and on allowing your student to continue their current enrollment.

English Language Proficiency for California (ELPAC)
Every Year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, classwork, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support.
Summative ELPAC
Students who have a home language survey that lists a language other than English will take the initial test, which identifies students as an English learner student or as initially fluent in English. Students who are classified as English learner students will take the Summative ELPAC every year until they are reclassified as proficient in English.
What is the test format? Both the Initial and Summative ELPAC are computer-based.
Which standards are tested? The 2012 California English Language Development Standards.
Alternate ELPAC
Students whose IEP identifies the use of an alternate assessment and who have a home language survey that lists a language other than English will take the Alternate Initial ELPAC, which identifies students as an English learner student or as initially fluent in English. Students who are classified as English learner students will take the Alternate Summative ELPAC every year until they are reclassified as proficient in English.
What is the test format? Both the Alternate Initial and Alternate Summative ELPAC are computer-based.
Which standards are tested? Alternate achievement standards derived from the 2012 California English Language Development Standards.
For more information on ELPAC please visit the websites below:

Attendance and Tardies
Daily attendance and being on time are crucial factors in how successful children are in school. You are helping your children to set lifelong patterns when you prioritize their attendance in school and their arrival on time. Tardies interfere with instruction in the classroom, both in terms of the time the student is missing from the classroom and the disruption the student causes when he/she arrives. Education Code 48260.5 has strict guidelines for families to follow when truancy (absences) or tardies are a concern. A letter will be sent home to notify you when your child’s attendance record begins to suffer. Please help us to help your child learn responsible work habits by getting them to school on time.
Just a few reminders:
Breakfast service is from 7:55-8:15am daily in the multiuse room.
Students that arrive before 8:10am should wait in the designated hallway areas near rooms 1, 6, 12, and 20 until supervision begins. Alternatively, they can go to the multiuse room for breakfast.
Student supervision in the morning starts at 8:10am. The staff on duty will escort students to the blacktop for recess.
School starts at 8:20am every day. Students that arrive tardy after 8:25am should report to the office and obtain a tardy slip before proceeding to their classrooms.
COVID Testing for Staff and Students
FUSD continues to offer COVID testing to all Mission Valley Elementary students from 8:00 - 11:30AM in room 1. All students that wish to participate in testing this year will have to fill out a new waiver. Each school has an updated link here.
