Coming Soon... Jog-A-Thon!

The much awaited Jog-A-Thon 2022-23, is fast approaching! Our students are anxiously waiting for the event which will be on Friday, May 19.  Students will participate in a fun run around the track, get those colorful marks on their hands showing how many laps they made, and feast on popsicles with their friends! They'd love to see their parents/guardians cheering, helping with the markers, passing out water, and giving popsicles. Parents are rewarded with those precious smiles full of pride, after their kids run for a cause, which supports Mission Valley Elementary School.

Our current donation total so far is $1,798. Keep those donations coming and please sign up to help via Konstella. Pledge forms are due May 19th but the fundraiser is open until the end of the year. Your participation and support will ensure our day is a grand success!

Click on the family letter for more details. Additional donation forms are availble in the office.

Tech Challenge

Congratulations to Team Storm Troopers Win (pictured above) who won the Outstanding Engineering Journal Award at the Tech Challenge organized by The Tech (Tech Museum) last month! For this year's challenge students had to engineer a structure which could withstand strong winds and protect vulnerable objects. They had to document their research in their engineering journal, go through an interview process, and tell the judges all about their EDP (Engineering Design Process). More details can be found on the Tech Interactive website.

California Health, Puberty, and Sexuality Education CHPSE

The Fremont Unified School District Board of Education and our school faculty believe it is important for students to assume responsibility for their own health and well-being. They benefit from instruction that fosters the development of positive health behaviors and the prevention of negative unhealthy behaviors. FUSD’s Comprehensive Health, Puberty, and Sexuality Education (CHPSE) curriculum focuses on information that is essential for students’ well-being. This course of study conforms strictly to the guidelines provided by the California State Education Code 51933 and the California Healthy Youth Act.

These lessons will be taught by school district staff during the month of May. Classroom teachers will share specific dates with families.

State law allows you to remove your student from part or all of the Comprehensive Health, Puberty, and Sexuality lessons. Students opting out of lessons will be provided an alternate curriculum under the supervision of a credentialed teacher.  If you do not want your student to participate in all or part of the Comprehensive Health, Puberty, and Sexuality education program, you must provide, in writing (email or on paper), a note to your student’s teacher.

Links to the curriculum, opt-out information, and parent resources, can be found at: https://www.fremont.k12.ca.us/HealthResources.

MAZE is Fremont Unified School District’s annual registration confirmation process in which parents/guardians:

Completing the MAZE process ensures your student’s school has accurate information, and allows families to view student schedules/classroom assignments and their teachers when that information is released in August.

MAZE forms for all FUSD students must be completed online through the Infinite Campus (IC) Parent PortalThe window to complete the MAZE process for the 2023-24 school year is July 17 to August 7, 2023.

While MAZE forms will not be available until July 17, we strongly recommend that you take a few moments and log into your IC Parent Portal  now to address any access issues. Click here for IC Parent Portal troubleshooting and support.

Please do not complete the New Student Registration as it will duplicate your student(s).

Parents/Guardians will receive a notice MAZE information at the email address indicated in the IC Parent Porta , and updates will be posted to both the FUSD  and school websites.

Parent Request for Student Placement 2023-2024

Student placement in a particular class is a complex process with many variables. The following criteria are used in order to accomplish the placement of students and balanced classes:

Parent input in this process is also valued. You may wish to describe your child’s specific educational needs by completing a Parent Request form located in the office. Parents must understand that only the educational needs of the student will be considered. Do not request specific individual teachers by name or the request will not be considered.

The Parent Request for Student Placement form must be returned to the school office no later than Friday, May 12 by 3:00 pm.

Noon Duty Supervisors Needed for 2023-2024

We are looking for noon supervisors for breakfast and lunch service. The hours are from 7:50-8:20am and 10:45am- 12:30pm daily. If you are interested in either shift, please contact the front office or Jacyln McClintock (jmcclintock@fusdk12.net) and we will walk you through the application process.

Attendance and Tardies

Daily attendance and being on time are crucial factors in how successful children are in school. You are helping your children to set lifelong patterns when you prioritize their attendance in school and their arrival on time. Tardies interfere with instruction in the classroom, both in terms of the time the student is missing from the classroom and the disruption the student causes when he/she arrives. Education Code 48260.5 has strict guidelines for families to follow when truancy (absences) or tardies are a concern. A letter will be sent home to notify you when your child’s attendance record begins to suffer. Please help us to help your child learn responsible work habits by getting them to school on time.
