Hello Mission Valley Elementary Families,
Our Beavers were busy in January! There was so much to do and fun to be had! We had some exciting games throughout the basketball season and couldn't be prouder of all our student-athletes. A big shout out to Mr. Horning for coaching both teams and to Ms. Hughes for working the score table at every game! Students attended a Walk & Roll Concert to promote pedestrian safety, went on field trips to the Nature Center and Star Struck Theater, we celebrated Lunar New Year, and many families attended Movie Night.
February is Black History Month and we celebrate the achievements and contributions of African Americans in U.S. History. Ask your students about the activities and projects they are doing in classrooms or ask what they learned from the "Beaver Insider" in the cafeteria! We are also celebrating "Global School Play Day,""World Read Aloud Day," and "The Great Kindness Challenge." You can extend your student's learning at home by encouraging free play, creativity, reading aloud to them, having them read aloud to you, and discussing ways to be kind.
The wet weather is here and we need your help keeping our community safe. We understand that mornings can be hectic so please do your best to plan ahead for on-time arrival to school. Students are expected to be on their blacktop numbers when the bell rings at 8:20am. Our staff strives to create a safe campus but we cannot do it alone. We are seeing students dropped off in intersections, cars blocking driveways and crosswalks, illegal u-turns and left turns, and impatient drivers maneuvering around others. Let's slow down in the school zone, abide traffic laws, and take care of each other.
Let's have a great year! For any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Be sure to check out our school website or Parent Square for the most current information regarding events, schedules, and contact information. You can also read the scrolling messages on our marquee near the valet entrance. GO BEAVERS!
Jacyln McClintock, Principal
The bell schedule has been updated for the 2024-25 school year. Check the appropriate schedule for your student's grade level. Every Wednesday is early release. For additional minimum days please refer to the school calendars.
Students can earn 3Bs tickets for demonstating behavior expectations. Tickets are gathered across grade levels and are entered in our monthly drawing. Winners attend a special lunchtime activity with Principal McClintock and earn a one-of-a-kind Beaver water bottle sticker!
Congratulations to our January raffle winners:
Transitional Kindergarten - Saanvi K and Ronav M
Kindergarten - Juliana G and Havilah O

This year we had six entries for our Yearbook Cover Contest! Participating students produced amazing designs and then Mission Valley staff voted for their favorite entries. The top two artists that received the most votes were declared the winners. Please join me in congratulating our second place winner, Avni S, and first place winner, Lydia C. Their designs will be featured on the front and back covers of the yearbook. All other designs will be published in the yearbook as well.
Students CURRENTLY enrolled and ATTENDING Mission Valley DO NOT need to go online to register again for next school year. Instead, the Annual Residency Verification form was emailed to families on February 3, 2025 via Informed K12.
2025-2026 CONTINUING STUDENT ENROLLMENT:
The Annual Residency Verification form was emailed to families on Monday, February 3, 2025.
Please watch for a “Mission Valley Residency Verification Form 2024-2025” which Fremont Unified School District has emailed via Informed K12 on 2/3/2025 for each student currently enrolled in TK – 5th grade. We recommend submitting it as soon as you receive it so as not to miss the deadline: 2/28/2025.
• The form will not be handed out to parents and serves 2 purposes: It reserves a spot for your child next year at Mission Valley and also fulfills the District’s mandated annual residency verification.
• Please do NOT mistake the form for junk/spam mail and trash it!
By submitting the required form and Residency Proofs by the due date of February 28, your child will be reserved a space for next year. Please note, if you are missing the proper residency proofs the form will be returned to you.

If you are moving across town or changing apartment numbers, FUSD Board Policy states the family must inform the school within 5 days of your moving date or of any change in circumstance which would affect their student’s residency (AR 5111.1). We are committed to working with you on the address change and on allowing your student to continue their current enrollment this school year.

Hopkins Registration Information for Families
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, classwork, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. Families can use the results to identify where a child is doing
well and where they might need more support.
Your child may be taking one or more of the following California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC), and Physical Fitness Test assessments. Pursuant to California Education Code Section 60615, parents and guardians may annually submit to the school a written request to excuse their child from any or all of the CAASPP assessments. This exemption does not exist for the ELPAC or Physical Fitness Test.
For more information on ELPAC please visit the websites below:
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress, or CAASPP, is the state academic testing program. CAASPP is a system intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student progress and ensure that all students leave high school ready for college and career. CAASPP
includes computer adaptive tests and performance tasks in English language arts, mathematics, and science.
Students in grades 3-8 and 11 will take tests in English and Math in spring of 2025. Students in grades 5, 8, and an assigned high school grade will take the tests in science. Students in grades 6-7, who are enrolled in the district’s Spanish Dual Immersion program, will also take the California Spanish
Assessment. If you would like more information regarding your school’s schedule, please contact your school’s main office.
Following the spring testing, student score reports will be available electronically to parents/guardians in late summer/early fall. Reports will include an overall score, a description of the student’s achievement level for English language arts, mathematics, science if applicable, and other information.
If you would like more information, please visit the CAASPP Parent/Guardian Resources Web page. Parents and guardians have the right to exempt their students from taking the CAASPP assessments (EC 60615). If you have any questions or concerns regarding your student’s participation, please
contact your school’s principal.
Federal and state laws require school districts to make accountability reports available to the public online. Accountability report information is based on data and information from the previous year. Dates will run one year behind.
We are pleased to inform you that our district's School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs) are available in English, Spanish, and/or Chinese, as required. You may view the SARCs on the Fremont Unified School District website at https://fremontunified.org/resources/reports/, or by visiting your school office. You may also obtain a hard copy at your school office. To answer any questions regarding the SARCs, there are designated personnel available at each school site.
For more information about SARC requirements, see the California Department of Education (CDE) SARC web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/ac/sa/.
Hello Parents,
Multicultural Fest 2025 is planned for Friday, April 11th. This event offers students a space to share their cultures, customs, and traditions with fellow students. Families are invited to the school to share elements of their culture/ ethnicity via our kids with other members of the school community.
This fest is led by the students supported by parents that will be having booths representing various countries, multiple activities for kids, food trucks, fashion show, music, dance etc. We really need a big pool of volunteers to make this successful and would love to have representation from multiple backgrounds to showcase the diversity of our community so we ask that families volunteer to be part of this celebration.
Preparation for this just started. Please contact/message/email if you would like to participate/volunteer in a team. We need team members for various tasks like planning team, execution team, campus design, decor, activities team, procurement team, food truck management, and fund raising. Feel free to share your creative thoughts and let's make it a great team work.
