IT course by Jocke on 3D design with Blender. Make your own 3D model and print it out!
Along with a trip to Aalto University ADDLAB
FLEXWEEK 3D printing course
One group had a course where they learnt all the tricks of 3D printing. The course was held in classroom E and run by Jocke. On Monday, the class worked on simpler models and learning theory about how to use Blender (3D creation software.). It was interesting to see how you don't need prior experience or knowledge to be on the course. Jocke did an excellent job of teaching the students what to do.
On day two, Tuesday, it was remarkable how much the students had improved. The students had gotten a firm grasp on how to use Blender and were already creating complex models and household furniture such as lamps, sofas and even bowling pins.
On Wednesday, the class visited Aalto University. The class visited the ADDLAB, Aalto University Digital Design Laboratory.
Did the following interview on Thursday, no visits were made on Friday.
INTERVIEW
NOTE: These aren't exact citations and the following are approximate answers.
Name: Eddie Johansson
Question: What have you learned this week?
Answer: We have learned how to use Blender to print 3D objects and we have learned how to use the 3D printer.
Question: Have you learned something new, what?
Answer: I’ve tried to learn how to use Blender previously but have given up, but thanks to the teacher being good at explaining I have learnt how to use it.
Question: Has this course fulfilled your expectations?
Answer: Yes. I was hoping by the end of it on how to print small miniature projects, now I am working on said model. I highly recommend this course.
Question: Has there been anything boring / criticism?
Answer: First lesson was a lot of learning and doing what I was told to do, which was boring but was still necessary. But after that it became a lot more fun when you could do what you wanted and use your creativity.
Question: What was the most fun you have done or had so far?
Answer: The miniature project I'm working on right now. It's for a war game, Warhammer fantasy battles. Chaos dwarf, Astragoth ironhand. I got interested in him and like him as a character.
Question: Do you think you will use this information for something in the future?
Answer: Absolutely. I can make a 3D model for a character that I can't find any models on from the internet. Instead I can make those models at home and even tweak the figurines on Blender
