During October, in hopes to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer awareness. The month of October is internationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, recognized by international health organizations like the WHO and the breastcancer.org website. Celebrated through donations and pink ribbons, people come together to support and honor the people it's come to effect.
Every Friday certain students from class 23I and 23K hosted a bake-sale in order to raise money for breast cancer. Students wishing to purchase, donate and support were able to purchase baked goods through mobile pay or cash. All the profits were donated directly to the Pink Ribbon Foundation. The Pink Ribbon Foundation (Roosa Nauha, Syöpäsäätiö) is a charity from the United Kingdom aiming to raise awareness and gather donations in order to support breast cancer research, especially how to advance detection of early on breast cancer. In order to find out more details regarding the initiative and people behind this, I interviewed Melissa Tran from class 23K.
