The study of Dance provides students with opportunities to explore movement as a form of creative expression and communication.
Students create and perform their own dance works, as well as study the works of others. They undertake regular and systematic dance training to develop physical skills and enhance their ability to perform a diverse range of expressive movements.
Choreographic skills are developed and refined through the exploration of both personal and learned movement vocabularies. Students study how choreographers create and arrange movement to communicate intent and use this knowledge to develop their own dance works. They also analyse how ideas are communicated through dance, and how styles, traditions, and notable works influence dance practice, the arts, artists, and society more broadly.
