Sun bear

Sun bear is one of the smallest bears in the world. It is called the sun bear because Sun bears are named after the bib-shaped. Their fur is mostly black in colour apart from a crescent like golden patch on their chest the sun is also called Helarctos malayanus. The sun bear is also known as the honey bear.

What does a Sun bear looks like? A sun bear looks likes a black bear but have a golden or whitest patch on their chest.They live in tropical temperatures, sun bear do not need to hibernate and are able to mate at any time of year. Unlike North American bear, male and female sun bears may hang out or live together while raising the cubs.

Sun bears are omnivorous. They eat fruit and vet but the sun bear eats meat, mouse, small bird, insect and lizards, rodents. They are consume plant material like berries, roots and fruit as well as animals like insects, small birds, rodents and lizards. Honey is also an important component of their diet which they extract from beehive using their long tongue of up 25 cm in length. Their claws are also quite long as your finger for opening termite nests and climbing trees.
