Letter 5

Dear Mr Pat Conroy M.P

The people of Lake Macquarie are outraged with this suggestion. Putting in these Nuclear Power Plants would be risking more pollution, radioactive poisoning, harming wildlife and higher electricity bills. We could prevent this by scrapping the whole idea and starting all over again, instead we could have solar energy and wind farms.

How would putting in nuclear power plants make more pollution? Dirty air will become best friends with global warming but that dirty air will be coming from Lake Macquarie. Just think about all those polar bears that may end up drowning if you make the wrong choice. “Do you know that if pollution makes global warming worse and if we don’t act now we will no longer have a chance of preventing global warming.” lectured a global warming researcher. We prevent this by putting in more wind farms! If we don’t have the land to do this, why not at sea?

What if there is a spill or a worker touches it? There is an extreme of radioactive poisoning around Nuclear Power Plants.
