Grant 4

Dear Woolworths,

I am writing to you on behalf of Myself, SPS and why you should consider us the $1000 for the native animals, Did you know The woolworths grant will let us accomplish our plenty ideas like a chicken coop, worm farm, a better compost system, frog pond, and more shelters in the trees for our native animals!

The chicken coop would be a useful element in our school for multiple reasons. In our kitchen the eggs that the hens lay could go into making delicious recipes in our Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden program, When they are finished with all the eggs but only the eggshells are left we could put them in the garden so slugs or snails don't eat all the lettuce!

Overall a better compost system and worm farm would be an excellent choice for our school.

Our school bins and classroom bins have apple cores, banana skins and plenty of other food waste and not many people know where the compost bin is! So thats why we can get a few small plastic buckets for our classrooms then a few kids could collect the vegetable scraps. Or if there is leftover scraps we could use them for the worms in the worm farm, then if the worms eat the scraps and stay on a good diet. They will provide lovely fertilizer for our garden.

Last but not least a frog pond. A frog pond would be an excellent choice at SPS for our students and native animals. Like frogs, dragonflies and many other animals. As you already may know there are plenty of native frogs and frogs need water obviously, plus the frog pond would provide projects for our students to see what frogs live in the pond and how they live. I hope you consider this letter.

Yours sincerely,

Tia.R
