Google Meet - instruction guardians/parents

Handling of personal data

  • Due to the situation with Covid-19 and as one of our safety precautions, parent meetings will be offered as digital meetings in Google Meet.

  • If you have a Google Account, your first and last name will be displayed to all participants during the meeting.

  • If you connect without a Google account, you can choose to write your first and last name or participate anonymously, but it is important that the meeting leader can understand who is participating.

  • By participating, you agree that the personal information required to join will be visible to all other participants in the meeting.

  • Remember to share as little personal information as possible about yourself, the student or other people during the meeting. This applies to text as well as image and sound.

Technical conditions

We recommend that you connect via an Internet-connected computer and then use the Google Chrome browser.

To use your phone, you must have a Google Account (such as a Gmail account) and the Google Meet app installed well before the meeting.

You can also connect via the student's computer / school account.

Listen through the computer speakers or headphones.

If you want to participate with audio and video, you need to use the computer's built-in microphone and speakers. or an external device, e.g. headset and webcam.

To join Google Meet, click on the link you received via invitation.

You may be asked to activate the microphone and camera. Click OK - you can later turn off the microphone and camera in the meeting whenever you want.

If you have a Google Account and are logged in when you click on the meeting link, connect according to option 1. The account will be visible in the upper right corner of the page. If you log in via a school account, you will be able to connect without asking to join.

If you do not have a Google account, you will be given the option to enter your name before connecting in option 2.

Before connecting, make sure your microphone and camera are turned off. After joining the meeting, you will be given the opportunity to start these if necessary.

During the meeting

As a participant in the meeting, the following functions might be helpful:

  1. List of all participants.

  2. The ability to turn the camera and microphone on or off.

  3. Switch to chat function.

  4. Camera and microphone settings, select the device you want to use for camera and microphone.

To join the meeting chat, choose to enter via the chat dialog (speech bubble in the upper right corner). The chat is visible for all participants.

To end your participation in the digital meeting, click on the red handset.
