Theoretical
With an open, cross-discipline approach which starts from the study of the 20th Century cinematographic art, this course analyses the dynamics of cultural dissemination related to the western culture archetypes, creators of an evocative and shared symbolic system. Cinema and its relations with literature, photography, theatre and the world of comic art will be analysed under a mutual contamination perspective, highlighting their points of contact as well as their peculiar expressive features. The course will explain how artistic collective images are born, as well as study the mechanisms and techniques to convey their messages into a narration with a depth of contents as well as stylistic consistency.
This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits = 6 ECTS
Successful students will be able to:
Understand the most significant aesthetic examples of western culture
Identify the fundamental archetypes of western culture
Handle media contamination in artistic production
Archetypes and their anthropological mutation
Inner workings of art and their cross-signs
Non-linear timelines across the works (past-present)
Some of the polarities that allow the understanding of contemporary art: centre/edge; masculine/feminine; domination/subordination, hegemony/dependency
This is a theoretical course.
Over the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the themes that will be developed.
