Theoretical
This course consists of an excursus into the history of cinema, from its beginning until today's production.
By studying the main phases of cinematography, the students will analyse the expression and production methods that lead to the contemporary scenario of audio-visual products in cinema and videos.
At the film analysis workshop, the students will view some fundamental works in the history of cinema, discussing their most relevant aspects.
The total credits for this course are 10, divided as follows:
HISTORY OF CINEMA: 6 CFA = 6 ECTS
SEMINAR ON FILM ANALYSIS: 4 CFA = 4 ECTS
Successful students will be able to:
Know the different trends in the history of cinema, as well as the main theories of cinema
Identify a film as belonging to a trend or artistic movement
Discuss the main elements that characterise a film style
Establish links between films from different eras, and identify their influences

SEMINAR ON FILM ANALYSIS:

This is a theoretical course. During the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the topics that will be covered:
Front lectures
Debates, presentations, peer assessment
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Individual study and research
Assessment tools may include:

Oral exam

The final grade for this course will result from the weighted average of its modules.
