APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
This course has a workshop-based approach, aimed at the students to develop writing, drawing and pre-visualisation skills for animation. The course starts from the research and conception of ideas for animated stories, until the development of a script, developing graphic design skills aimed at the main elements of animation concepts, and improving the ability to create storyboards with the use of specific pre-visualisation software. At the end of the course, the students will create an "animatic" and a storyboard for their animation project.
The total credits for this course are 6, divided as follows:
SCREENWRITING FOR ANIMATION: 3 CFA = 3 ECTS
STORYBOARD FOR ANIMATION: 3 CFA = 3 ECTS
Successful students will be able to:
Develop personal storytelling based on technological and multimedia contexts
Analyse the link between textual and audiovisual language
Develop brief scripts for animation short films that meet the needs of the audience and the market
Develop their ability to draw the basic elements of an animation concept
Design the staging starting from a script
Use the main pre-visualisation techniques in animation projects
Devise and pre-visualise authorial animation projects
Create animatics for personal projects

This is a theoretical/project based course.
During the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects that will be developed:
Front lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual study or research
Assessment criteria may include:
Writing a paper
Graded exercises with a final oral exam

The final grade for this course will result from the weighted average of its modules.
