APPROACH
Theoretical/project based
This course has a workshop-based approach, aimed at the students to develop audiovisual writing skills. The research starts with an in-depth analysis of the story structure, to develop a concept (pilot) for a series or film. The didactic path will investigate the strong links between screenwriting and staging, guiding the students through the fundamental steps of writing fiction.
This course is made of a single module of 6 CFA credits = 6 ECTS
SCREENWRITING
Successful students will be able to:
Identify and analyse the contribution of all the structural elements to the cinematographic storytelling
Develop personal storytelling based on technological and multimedia contexts
Analyse the link between textual and audiovisual language
Develop complex scripts that meet the needs of the audience and the market
Design the staging starting from a script
Assess the feasibility of a script
Carry out a short fictional audio-visual production
Design of characters in serial stories
Point of view in the storytelling
Dialogues
Text and subtext
Main narrative structures
Presentation of a story and a script
This is a theoretical/project-based course.
During the course, the students will carry out the following didactic activities, which may vary depending on the projects that will be developed:
Front lectures
Use of tutorials, videos or other media tools
Exercises and revisions
Workshops
Individual or group projects
Individual study or research
Assessment criteria may include:
Writing a paper
Graded exercises with a final oral exam
Further details on the specific tests will be given by each professor.
The final grade for this course will result from the weighted average of its modules.
