The David Douglas cheer team had quite the run this fall season cheering at multiple sporting events such as football games, soccer games and volleyball games. They also had their own competitions, earning 3rd place in the OCCA gameday championship and 1st place in the Clackamas Invitational.
They were split up into 3 different stunt groups for the Mt. Hood conference with group one consisting of senior Nataliya Vasquez, junior Elisa Vizzuett, junior Helena Lopez-Thorsnes, junior Tina Nguyen and sophomore Samarah Gomez-Lopez-Mathison. Group two is comprised of sophomore Alyssa Bielman, senior Adyson Elliot, sophomore Jocelinn Olmos, senior Jessica Lopez Quiroz and junior Hannah Coffey. The third group is made up of freshman Alina Tello, senior Terayn Kimmons, junior Adylene Castillo-Serralta and sophomore Adelin Gonzalez.
The first team is made up by sophomore Klowi Sloan, sophomore Adelin Gonzalez, senior Adyson Elliott, junior Elisa Vizzuett, senior Nataliya Vasquez and junior Tina Nguyen.
The cheer team started their winter season on Dec. 6 with a total of 22 JV cheerleaders joining the season.
“We had some difficulties that we had to problem solve on the fly,” said coach Miklya Pruett on the Dec. 6 competition. “The girls did really well. I’m excited to see how far this team can push.”
