The CTE Center is scheduled to be done some time in December, to be ready to open before second semester, according to vice principal Valoree Hill.
In total, nine teachers will be moving into the CTE center with the career center. Automotive, Engineering, MakerSpace, Health Science, Business, CISS (computer information systems), Code Center and the Career Center will all be moving into the new building.
The CTE center will have European style gender neutral bathrooms with vape detectors. The health science classes will have more room for labs and experiments, and an ambulance simulator will be installed in the second health science room, along with stretchers.
The new building has resources for students interested in coding, engineering, automotive, business and medical fields. The new Career Center will be much bigger and easily accessible to more students. It also has new architectural designs so that the building could get more natural sunlight.
“It’s a high school with a little bit of a college campus touch to it,” said vice principal Valoree Hill.
Also included in the same construction bond was the construction in the south building in the MakerSpace hall. It was worked on over the summer break and they will be moving daycare into the old MakerSpace hallway; meanwhile the MakerSpace people are currently located in the space behind the PAC and they will be moving into the CTE center second semester.
Construction of a new greenhouse north of the English hall is almost finished and should be completed by mid-October and be ready for natural resources to use. It will be a huge improvement to the natural resources class because the old one is located next to the football stadium which is far away and can’t be moved next to the classroom. This new greenhouse will help the students see literal growth and learn more in depth.
The previous greenhouse was located in the south and in disrepair.. It was difficult for the natural resources to use the old greenhouse but this new greenhouse will be located next to the natural resources classroom and will have a new built in climate control system and automotive watering system.
“We’re just excited for it to be done,” said natural resources teacher Logan Marquardt.
