The new Christmas special “Jingle Bell Heist" made its premiere on Nov. 26. 2025. Distributed by Netflix, and produced by Michael Filmogari, the American producer responsible for the trilogy of “For All The Boys.” “Jingle Bell Heist” isn’t the best Christmas movie to come out this year, but it was pretty decent from the ones that came out earlier this year.
Olivia Holt, the actress known for playing Tanny Bowen in "Cloak & Dagger," plays Sophia, a girl who just wants to help her mom. And Connor Swindells, an actor known for his roles in "Barbie," "Rogue Heroes," and "The Vanishing," plays Nick, a guy trying to repair his relationships after being accused of stealing money from where he worked by Maxwell Sterling. Played by Peter Serafinowicz, and he is also stealing from his own store for insurance money.
"Jingle Bell Heist" has the plot of a typical Christmas movie, with bits of comedy and typical romance, but there’s a little bit of crime spliced up into the mix. Sophia and Nick both have troubles going on in their lives, and they stumble upon each other when Nick finds Sophia stealing money on the cameras. So Nick offers that they team up to rob London’s biggest department store, but accidentally fall in love in the process.
Some of the plot twists were predictable at times, but some of them catch you off guard when you least expect it. The music didn’t really sound too awkward, but it stands out a little bit whenever it plays. The acting overall was a bit mediocre, but the chemistry between the two main actors throughout the movie outweighed the negatives. It does a good job making the villain, Maxwell Sterling, feel mysterious, even with the little screen time he has.
On the visual aspect of the movie, it was pretty alright. It captured the emotions well, with the funny bits and the occasional intimate moments flowing nicely together. However, it can feel dull with the way the lighting was put together in some scenes. But overall, the movie does a decent job keeping the plot intact, with a few minor stumps. But it all ties things together into a happy ending for the characters.
"Jingle Bell Heist" hasn’t been one of the best Christmas movies from Netflix’s catalog, but it’s something to put on if you want to have a few laughs, and some festive fun for the family.
