Advisory is not necessary.
Advisory is always on Wednesdays after the 2nd or 6th period, from 11:16-11:46. For students' whole high school years, Freshman- Senior year you have an advisory. But what do you actually learn in advisory? All of the advisory's grade is mainly based on the attendance of the class plus the participation aspect of it.
Another aspect of why advisory is not necessary is the fact that advisory is right before lunch so people are already hungry, and some people need to eat before they can function. This makes classes shorter plus the late start. I would understand more if the advisory was once a month to do check-ins with your link crew leader.
There are other students that agree with me as well. From -anonymous student, "I think it makes the day feel way longer when Wednesdays are supposed to feel short.” Some students feel like advisory is an extra class where students get stressed out.
Some people can argue that advisory brings more people together. I can argue that, even though you get introduced to people you might not know and make new connections, being with the same people for four years will not have the same impact.
It is also true that some teachers let you make up work in advisory, but it is hard to focus when everyone is talking because there is nothing to do.
