David Douglas shouldn’t have as much budget allocated to sports as it does, with an incredibly bad win to loss ratio across the board.
Our football team has become rather notorious for not performing well, having two games they won with the other eight being losses, but it’s somewhat like this across the board. Volleyball won one game, same with boys soccer. Boys basketball lost 17 games and the girls basketball team lost 18 games.
Why have so much budget for teams that lose consistently when we can focus on other departments in our school like the theater and music departments which consistently win awards? Our school has lost a lot of budget in recent years and some less spread out budget would be incredibly helpful to the school, students and teachers alike. If we simply decreased the sports budget significantly, focusing less on sports and made our priority the general well-being of the whole school, we would likely have a better school environment for everyone.
