Valentine's Market - 14 February

Valentine’s Day dawned clear and bright this year, and our Grade 7s were soon champing at the bit to get their stalls set up in anticipation of the tea-time Valentine’s Day market.

What a wonderful variety of home-baked or freshly made tasty treats, fun activities and games of chance there were! Apple bobbing, balloon chucking, dart throwing, moustache pinning, an interactive gambling fruit machine (you’ll have to ask a Grade 7 to explain!), as well as raffles, and homemade goods (including some impressive crochet work) saw the market bringing happy laughter and much fun to the campus… and perhaps the odd sugar-rush, too!

The added bonus of being able to make the Valentine’s Day Market a learning experience for all, and especially the Grade 7s, cannot be underestimated. Budgets, business plans, loans, debts, profits and losses all became real. Thanks to the Grade 7s effective planning and marketing, we are delighted to report that a healthy group profit resulted. This will go towards the Grade 7s gift to the school at the end of the year.

Our grateful thanks are extended to the Clifton family for their support of the market, and to the Grade 7 parents, particularly, for their part in the process.
