21 March 2025
Dear Parents,
World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated on 21st of March each year. This date (21/3) represents the trisomy condition, where an individual inherits an extra copy of a chromosome resulting in three, rather than two chromosomes number 21. This extra chromosome results in the condition known as Down Syndrome.
Annie Falconer has had a long history at Clifton and has spent many years nurturing a group of differently abled young people. Annie is widely known and much appreciated for creating a caring, tranquil and safe space where her charges are able to grow and find happiness and a purpose. And so it was a pleasure to have Annie, Josh, Stefan, Adrian and Khazi join with Kieran to share the assembly message and awareness of Down Syndrome on Monday.
Our Clifton children responded just as we would expect, with empathy and understanding and we are all wearing our funky socks today in support of all the differently able members of our community.
