Bird Day - 12 March
A Celebration of Creativity and Discovery
Our Grade 2 children arrived at school this week bursting with excitement and creativity, dressed in vibrant Bird Day costumes that truly embodied our commitment to championing childhood. Aligned with our School Promise, to champion childhood with the rigour and freedom to discover in ways that inspire personal bests, the day celebrated imagination and exploration.
The cool forest provided a natural, inspiring classroom where the children worked in teams to hunt for clues and complete bird-themed activities. A stroll through the paths of Top Woods allowed the children to observe and listen for birds, reinforcing their connection with nature while offering a welcome break before moving on to an obstacle course challenge. Throughout the day, they learnt fascinating facts about birds, including the humble sparrow, and even practiced tallying bird counts, developing their observational skills and ability to work collaboratively.
The success of the day was further enhanced by the imaginative contributions of our parents, whose efforts in creating truly magical costumes did not go unnoticed. Their support, combined with the children’s enthusiasm, fostered an environment where every boy and girl could express their unique talents and explore the wonders of nature.
Grade 2 Bird Day was not only a day of avian adventures but also a testament to our shared commitment to nurturing confident, capable, and creative young girls and boys. The smiles and happy hearts of our Clifton Champs as they headed home reflected the inspiring, discovery-filled day we all experienced.
