Chinese Banquet - 14 March
As part of our termly theme, World Cultures, the Grade 3 children embarked on an exciting journey into Chinese traditions. This immersive experience allowed them to explore the rich cultural heritage of China through dress, crafts, and cuisine.
The children arrived at school dressed in traditional Chinese attire, bringing vibrant colours and elegance to the classroom. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as they engaged in creative activities, starting with the making of beautiful Chinese lanterns. This hands-on craft not only honed their artistic skills but also deepened their understanding of an iconic Chinese tradition.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Chinese-themed banquet. The children had the opportunity to feast on a delicious spread featuring spring rolls, noodles, and omelettes. To make the experience even more authentic, they practiced eating with chopsticks, a fun and sometimes tricky challenge that tested their fine motor skills!
Through this engaging and interactive experience, the Grade 3 girls and boys gained a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture, realising how food and customs bring people together. It was a truly memorable event and a highlight of the term. As we continue our theme, we eagerly anticipate our next stop, India, where new traditions, flavours, and experiences await!
