Trip to Roselands - 4 - 5 March

Our courageous Grade 1 Clifton Champs embarked on their first overnight trip of their Clifton journey to Roselands Camp. In true celebration of our School Promise, to champion childhood with the rigour and freedom to discover in ways that inspire personal bests, the children embraced every opportunity to learn and explore.

The buses were buzzing with excitement and anticipation as we set off to Roselands Camp, blessed with incredible weather that enhanced every activity. Upon arrival, the children enjoyed a delicious snack provided by the kitchen before changing into their swimming costumes and takkies for a hike to God’s Window.

On our way, we stopped at the Golden Kiwi’s, where the children sampled this delightful fruit and learned about caring for these precious vines. The journey continued through an overgrown tea plantation, offering insights into how tea is picked and packaged. Upon reaching God’s Window, the children took a well-deserved rest to admire the stunning view.

Lunch was enjoyed at the dam during a picnic under the trees, followed by a refreshing swim that brought smiles to both the children and teachers. Kayaking proved to be a hit, with the children thoroughly enjoying the adventure. Later, they returned to camp to tackle a challenging muddy obstacle course, demonstrating remarkable bravery and teamwork as they navigated from one obstacle to the next. A warm shower and a delicious dinner concluded the day’s activities.

After dinner, the children gathered in the big hall to play games and listen to a story before bedtime. We are incredibly proud of the resilience shown by so many of our boys and girls, many of whom experienced an overnight away from home for the first time.

The following day began with a hearty breakfast and an introduction to the farm animals. The children had the chance to feed a goat and even held a lamb that was just three days old. After a snack, they challenged themselves by climbing the wall, followed by a well-earned lunch. It was with heavy hearts that we said goodbye to the remarkable facilitators before the children boarded the buses to return to their loving families.

We are grateful for the wonderful experiences shared during this trip, which not only provided enriching learning opportunities but also embodied the spirit of our School Promise. We look forward to many more adventures that inspire our Clifton Champs to discover, learn, and grow.
