Student Health and Safety at Capital College
At CCAMT, we prioritize the health and safety of our students and staff. We strive to create a conducive learning environment where everyone can perform their roles effectively and safely. We understand that students with medical conditions, as certified by registered medical professionals, may face challenges that could potentially affect their safety and the safety of others. Therefore, we are committed to providing ongoing care and support for these students.
All students are expected to meet the minimum technical standards for admission, progression, and graduation, with or without reasonable accommodations. These standards ensure that every student is capable of fulfilling their academic obligations in a safe manner.
To verify a student's fitness for duty, the Office of Student Affairs and College's Management may require evidence of a medical evaluation from a certified professional. This evaluation is crucial in determining whether a student is physically and mentally prepared to undertake their academic responsibilities.
If a student is found to be medically unfit, they will be granted a medical leave of absence. This allows the student to focus on their health without the burden of academic responsibilities. The student will be allowed to return to their studies after it has been determined that they are fit to do so, based on the recommendations from the fitness for duty evaluation.
Non-compliance with a request for a fitness for duty evaluation may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from their program and the College. However, students have the right to appeal any suspension or dismissal to the Office of Academia, as outlined in the student handbook. We believe in providing a fair process for all students while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
These are the key requirements that students must fulfill in order to maintain their enrollment status and to be eligible for examinations and assessments.
Minimum Attendance Requirement: Every student is mandated to maintain an average attendance record of at least 90% for each semester. This ensures that students are actively engaged in their learning process and are keeping up with the academic rigor of the college. Neglecting this requirement may result in academic penalties and possible disqualification from exams.
Course and Miscellaneous Fees: All students are required to pay their tuition fees and other administrative charges in full. This includes costs associated with student services, technology use, library access, and other college facilities. Failure to pay these fees may result in restrictions on access to college resources and services, or even suspension of the student's enrollment.
Academic Integrity: Students are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity. This includes adhering to the rules against plagiarism, cheating, and any other forms of academic dishonesty. Any student found violating these rules may face severe penalties, including expulsion.
Adherence to Code of Practice: As part of their commitment to the college, students are required to familiarize themselves with and adhere to the Code of Practice. This includes understanding the procedures for assessments, exams, and submissions.
Participation in College Activities: Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and other college events. This promotes a well-rounded education and helps students develop essential skills beyond the classroom.
Health and Safety Compliance: Students must comply with all health and safety regulations set by the college. This includes following Singapore's Ministry of Health guidelines, maintaining cleanliness on campus, and reporting any health and safety issues to the administration.
