The following statements are from the official document, approved by the Academic Board (March 30 2022)
Preamble
The Academic Board has approved a common process and a standardized form for lesson observation.
Lesson observation is an evaluation of the lesson delivery to ensure that programs and classes are delivered to achieve their intended learning outcomes.
2 Process for conducting lesson observation
Lesson Observations
Academic staff will be observed at least once per academic year by a designated Supervising Officer from the Academic Team.
Observations focus on teaching quality, preparation for classes, and delivery of course content. Findings are recorded in the Lesson Observation Report.
After the observation, the Supervising Officer will provide feedback to the academic staff, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
The Chief Academic Officer will consolidate all Lesson Observation Reports and share relevant findings during the Academic Department Meeting.
This process is designed to support continuous learning among academic staff and enhance teaching and learning.
Why this matters to students:
By observing and supporting academic staff, the College ensures that the quality of teaching remains high, so students benefit from well-prepared lessons and effective learning experiences.
