Capital College aims to create an environment in which the needs, rights and responsibilities of all individuals and groups are respected.
Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that will bring credit to themselves, their peers, and their families and adhere to Capital College's core values.
As students of Capital College, they will value the importance of academic honesty: what it is, why it matters, and what the consequences are for engaging in dishonest behavior.
This is to nurture the development of ethically responsible graduates, who are socially responsible global citizens.
A Code of Conduct is a set of principles and regulations devised to maintain an orderly, secure, and nurturing academic atmosphere. It is mandatory for students to adhere to these stipulated norms and procedures.
The College possesses the authority to impose penalties on students who violate any of these outlined rules.
The Code of Conduct determines the expectations of the student. The guidelines are established to regulate student behavior, but more importantly for the safety and protection of students, academic staff, corporate staff, and guests. The College intends to maintain a conducive collegial atmosphere so as to work towards the stated mission.
The Code of Conduct's focus is on channeling positive collegial behavior of all students. The guidelines apply to the student’s behavior while on campus, during class/studio/rehearsal/practice time.
Students are expressly prohibited from engaging in any dishonest activities such as cheating, deception, or manipulation aimed at deceiving faculty or fellow students.
Any actions that contravene the laws and regulations of the Republic of Singapore are strictly forbidden within the confines of the college premises, including classrooms, studios, and offices.
Disciplinary Policy
The College takes student disciplinary issues very seriously and the following would constitute a student misconduct categorised as minor and major:
Minor misconducts are considered as follows:
Consistent tardiness / Absent Without Valid Reasons
Foul / Abusive Language / Rumours Mongering / Slanderous allegations directed at Fellow Students / Staff / Office Bearers / Business Associates with the Institute
All students are required to practice courtesy to all fellow students, staff, office bearers, or business associates at all times.
Consumption of Alcohol
Students shall not be allowed to consume alcohol beverages while on College Campus
Smoking on Campus Grounds
This is a smoke-free campus, students are expected to adhere to the regulatory requirements set by National Environment Agency (NEA).
Disruptive Behaviour During Lessons
Students are expected practice professional studentship while on college campus.
Inappropriate Dress Code
Students are expected follow a professional dress code, as per outlined in the Student Handbook. They should ensure appropriate attire that does not impede or affect their and the peers’ safety in classes/studios.
Major misconducts are considered as follows:
Criminal Offences / Theft
Criminal offences include, but not limited to: -
Physical assaults on College campus.
Harmful conduct towards peers, College staff, and visitors.
Drugs possession / consumption
Any other serious offences, criminal or otherwise (e.g. theft, vandalism, sexual harassment etc.)
International Students who work / moonlight illegally
Vandalism or Mishandling of Office Premises / Assets / Properties (Major)
In the event if the student has vandalized or mishandled the Institute’s premises, assets or properties, the student shall compensate the College or replace the damaged items.
Falsification of Information
All information provided to the college (e.g. course application, attendance administration etc) must be accurate, complete and truthful.
Falsification of information is a serious offence which may result in expulsion.
Academic Misconduct
Any form of Academic Misconduct (e.g. plagiarism, cheating etc) identified in assignments, project submissions, or examinations will result in a fail grade for the unit, and administrative fee may apply.
Students fraudulently forging authorized signatures
Disciplinary actions shall be taken on students who are involved in fraudulent activities.
Working while on Student Pass
Students on Student Pass caught working will be immediately expelled and reported to ICA.
Based on the degree of the infringement, the Code of Conduct enlists methods and procedures to address the forbidden actions.
The repercussions can range from advisories for minor breaches to legal actions for more severe cases.
