After the end of World War II, many nations were faced with their own self-determination and during the Cold War there were three reasonable options; ally with America and their capitalist system, side with the Soviet Union and their communist ideas, or become 'non-aligned'. Starting in China, with the development of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), a leader by the name of Mao Zedong will become his own version of Stalin. We will see communism in Vietnam, when the North Vietnamese turned to communism and invade South Vietnam who was resisting and holding out on capitalism. Communism will also pop up in Ethiopia, Cambodia, Angola, and Cuba. This time will also see the emergence of an extreme form of Islamic rule in the Middle East; namely, in Iran.
