Pyramid of Capitalism
Pyramid of Capitalism
You think all these massive changes are going down and society would not be affected? Nah. Society gets flipped upside down. You couldn’t relate to someone from the 1700s. But. You could relate to someone from 1900. You had a childhood. You had leisure. You went to school. Your family works a job with 9-to-5-ish type hours. What are you doing this for? Oh. You’re in a school. Why are you there? You seem pretty able bodied. Shouldn’t you be doing soul-crushing labor in a factory? Wait… there’s a middle class? Yep. There's a lot going on in society. For example, people are now settling in urban areas. This actually occurred very rapidly in the second half of the nineteenth century in England, Belgium, France, and the United States. The main cause of this was new technologies in industrialization required a large number of factory workers. Oh, some of the best news! Half of society, women, finally got the right to vote (in some industrialized places)! And there is a lot more, I could go on all day about the changes that occurred at a result of the I.R., but these are the societal changes stemming from the Industrial Revolution...

Historical Development
New social classes, including the middle class and the industrial working class, developed. While women and often children in working-class families typically held wage-earning jobs to supplement their families’ income, middle-class women who did not have the same economic demands to satisfy were increasingly limited to roles in the household or roles focused on child development. The rapid urbanization that accompanied global capitalism at times led to a variety of challenges, including pollution, poverty, increased crime, public health crises, housing shortages, and insufficient infrastructure to accommodate urban growth.
