The Transfer of Disease Impacts Europe
The Black Death was a great tragedy. However, the decrease in population caused by the plague increased the wages of peasants. As a result, peasants began to enjoy a higher standard of living & greater freedom.
The lord of the manor was the most powerful person on the manor. Everything revolved around the lord and his family.
The End of Manorialism
Manors produced most of what they needed, which limited commerce and economic growth. After the downfall of the Feudal System & Manorialism, trade increased rapidly as real wages for all workers increased.
The European Commercial Revolution was the creation of a European economy based on trade & commerce, not manorialism. The re-commercialization of Europe began as early as the 1200s & continued for centuries. By the start of the Industrial Revolution in Britain in the 1700s, Europe had become the world’s most commercialized region.
The commercial revolution resulted from various political, economic, & social changes that began as early as the 1000s & slowly led to higher amounts of business & commerce.
