Materials Design for Targeted Performance

April 10, 2020

Materials have paced the evolution of technology for millennia. Their importance in the advance of human civilization is apparent in the naming of historical epochs, from the Stone Age through the Bronze, Iron, and Silicon Ages. However, historically, materials were discovered by accident. How about today? Can we design materials for targeted performance? In this seminar, I will discuss how we use high-performance computing and informatics to design novel materials at the Computational Materials Design Lab.
